my wife and I spent two wonderful weeks in Bansin (more info), a small town on the Baltic Sea island Usedom.

I've just been rereading one superb historical fiction novel, The Pope's Rhinoceros that starts (and takes place for part of it) on Usedom in the 1520's and the place is described as quite desolate at the time.
Today I heard it is a major tourism destination
